wings and choices

if you had wings, what would you do?
would you fly? would withdraw into them
and wrap them around yourself,
apart from the world?
would you jump off a building
and ride the free fall before catching yourself?
would you jump if you weren’t sure
if you could catch
yourself?
would you fly higher and higher
until there was no air
and you passed out and fell
just to fly that high?
would you sit and take those
which let you soar
and use them
to let you hide?
or would you escape
in that cacoon of feathers
to create a world
in which you can fly?
